That’s right. It’s the cute mini figther from Worms.

Worms origins and trivia

Worms are one of the oldest video game franchises that are still alive today. It was published by a legendary British studio Team 17. The original game was created by an indie developer Andy Davidson who was approached by Team 17 to publish the game for  Commodore Amiga computer. The first game was published in 1995. Here are some interesting Worms trivia:

  • the original Worms game had a darker tone, it wasn’t until the second game that the series took on a lighter, cartoonish art style
  • Worms are known for their signature goofy weapons with more than 60 weapons available at the peak
  • Exploding Sheep and Banana Bomb are tho most iconic weapons, both weapons are available in every game so far
  • the game is also known for the funny high-pitched catchphrases that enforce the cartoonish style of the series
  • at one point Worms, karting game was in development but was canceled in 2003

Crash Bandicoot origins and trivia

Crash Bandicoot games are developed by Naughty Dog. That’s right, the Naughty Dog of The Last of Us and Uncharted fame. California based studio was founded in 1984 under the name Jam Software before renaming in 1989. The studio started working on first Crash Bandicoot game in 1994 as a Playstation exclusive. Here’s some interesting Crash Bandicoot trivia:

  • bandicoot is a marsupial native to Australia-New Guinea region
  • original character was not a bandicoot, it was a wombat named Willy
  • Crash’s signature no neck body design was due to the hardware limitations, removing the neck resulted in fewer polygons that needed to be rendered
  • boxes (or crates) were originally introduced to fill in the less interesting parts and slow the player progress with additional puzzles but soon became the core element of the game
  • Crash Bandicoot series has a total of 18 games and 50 million copies shipped worldwide  since the first game was released in 1996.
  • best-selling game of the series is Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped with 7.13 mil. copies sold

What is Game Snacks?

Game Snacks is a new type of video game media website, focused on delivering fun and bite-sized entertainment. We’re kicking off with a VG character guessing game. That’s right. It’s everyone’s favorite sidekick: Luigi.

Luigi history and trivia

Like his older brother Mario, Luigi’s character is created by Nintendo’s famous game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. His first appearance was as a second player in the original Mario Bros and after that, he continued to appear in almost all of the Mario games.

Luigi got his big solo debt in 1991 educational video game Mario is Missing! He’s most noteworthy game is Luigi’s Mansion, released in 2001 for Nintendo Game Cube in which Luigi is found exploring the haunted mansion and capturing ghosts with his trusty Poltergust 3000 – a vacuum cleaner turned ghost fighting machine.

Nintendo celebrated 2013 as “Year of Luigi” with strong releases of Luigi-themed games like Dr. Luigi and Mario & Luigi Dream Team. The company also tweeked Luigi’s image to give him more character, consequently Luigi “Death Stare” was born.
